Yesterday, executives from the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) and the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) discussed their commitment and programmatic efforts to house people experiencing homelessness in the city and county of Los Angeles during a field hearing of the U.S.

The transformation of the former Yakima Armory into housing for homeless and low-income veterans is underway after the Yakima Housing Authority broke ground on the long-awaited project Wednesday.

Yakima Housing Authority Executive Director Lowel Krueger, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray and Yakima veteran Chuck Austin took shovels to the yard of the property at 1702 Tahoma Ave. and turned the soil.

In a momentous occasion for the city’s largest affordable housing developer, the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) Board of Commissioners approved $486 million to build and pursue financing for 14 affordable housing developments in the San Antonio area, including redeveloping the oldest public housing community in the United States.

Wednesday, County Executive Marc Elrich announced that Montgomery County’s Housing Initiative Fund (HIF) provided the highest level of financing in its 30-year history to preserve or create 22 multifamily properties generating a total of 3,254 apartment units, including 1,982 affordable housing units.

The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) in partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb, Change Church and the Trenton Housing Authority is pleased to launch a comprehensive Saturday Academy, STEM education program titled NJ-Kids4Coding. STEM instructors will partner to teach, and test up-to 60 students on coding applications and ways to apply their new talents in today’s workplace. The Saturday sessions began on July 13th and will conclude on August 17th.
