Learn More about the Housing Is Summit
CLPHA’s Housing Is Summit, formerly known as the Affordable Housing & Education Summit, introduced a health track for the first time in 2018. During the event, hundreds of professionals from the housing, education, health, academic, government, and foundation sectors lead sessions, share expertise, ask questions, make connections, and learn from peers on how to improve life outcomes for low-income and homeless individuals across the United States.
The first Affordable Housing & Education Summit started with 70 participants comprised of housing authority staff and executives, educators, government staff, funders, researchers, and nonprofit partners. Each subsequent year has seen an increase in size of participants. These Summits help to gauge success, assess our metrics, learn from one another, and share research. Our Summits allow partners across the country to come together for dedicated planning time, fostering partnerships in a way that phone calls and emails cannot always accomplish. Past Summits have featured panels on data sharing, different levels of government leadership, research on opportunity youth, partnership formation and maintenance, connectivity, post-secondary education, and early learning. Summits also have time for participants to discuss issues in smaller groups to allow for greater participation and input.

For the past several years, CLPHA has provided regular webinars as part of our education working group. Currently, we offer bi-monthly webinars on a variety of topics such as intergovernmental partnerships and workforce development programs. This part of the webinar series is open to anyone and typically features a presentation from housing leaders and industry professionals on key education topics of interest. We also host quarterly roundtables for small groups of participants to discuss an in-depth topic such as non-traditional college programs. Additionally, the education working group also hosts twice-yearly update sessions for CLPHA members to share their efforts and initiatives with each other and receive feedback. Both the roundtables and update sessions are only open to CLPHA members.
