Full Job Description: 

Help make housing stability a reality for families in our community! Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) is looking for an Eligibility Specialist 1 to join our team. In this role, you’ll ensure that tenants and landlords meet program requirements, oversee voucher briefings, and navigate complex compliance issues with confidence and clarity. Your attention to detail and ability to apply regulations will directly impact housing opportunities for those in need.

At the VHA, we collaborate with local governments and community partners throughout Clark County to address affordable housing and homelessness while providing housing and assistance to low-income residents to help break the cycle of poverty. 

What You'll Do:

Review and determine eligibility for tenants and landlords.

Guide participants through the voucher process and compliance requirements.

Administer Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contracts, leases, and renewals.

Enforce program regulations and policies while ensuring exceptional customer service.

Provide clear, informed communication to tenants, landlords, and partner agencies.

What We Offer:

The starting salary range is $24.75 - $27.23 per hour based on experience. In compliance with the Equal Pay & Opportunities Act, the full salary range is $24.75 - $34.65 per hour.

Full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position working 40 hours per week in-person, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus some higher level education or vocational training specializing in office skills and/or housing related subjects plus at least 4 years of directly related experience or equivalent required.
  • Three years of customer service related experience or clerical related experience.
  • Ability to attain Section 8 Housing Specialist Certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Demonstrated computer skills necessary to effectively complete duties.
  • AA or BA in Social Service or related field strongly preferred.
  • Previous housing experience desirable.
