New mixed-income apartments open in Pendleton Heights with a focus on local artists (Housing Authority of Kansas City, MO)

By the end of the month, Pendleton Arts Block will be filled with tenants. It's Kansas City's newest mixed-income living space.

"This will be a new neighborhood for me. I came from St. Joseph, Mo. Now I'm relocating back here," freelance artist and new tenant Shamari Robbs said.

Although you don't have to be an artist to live here, they've designated some space for creative tenants. It's one of the building's main draws.

After months of public meetings and planning, Fort Worth Housing Solutions submitted a $35 million HUD Choice Neighborhood Grant application in early November. HUD’s review process is expected to take about six months. If we win the grant, it will jump-start the transformation of Cavile Place and surrounding neighborhood.

The Ruth L. Bennett Community Farm wound down its fall selling season by sending its new youth contingent to the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group’s “It Takes a Region” conference in Jersey City, N.J.

Four city students who worked the farm during the summer - Ah’maj Jackson, Joseph “Joe Joe” Dukes, Khi’Jhane Hall and Jasmine Young – learned about urban farming practices and connected with other youth farmers during the three-day conference.

Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority Discusses Ambitious 2020 Development and Acquisition Strategy

2020 is shaping up to be a big year for the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) – CMHA will invest $247 million in 2020 to acquire or renovate more than 1,400 units of affordable and workforce housing, and by the end of 2020, CMHA will have converted 100% of its public housing stock to Project-Based Vouchers.

Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) Celebrates Grand Opening of A Bridge Home Imperial

On Wednesday, November 13, HACLA joined with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Councilman Joe Buscaino, and community partners in the fight against homelessness for the opening of A Bridge Home Imperial. This shelter will provide interim housing and supportive services for 100 women and men from the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts who were previously homeless before connecting with the facility, giving them a place to receive the support they need to get on the path toward permanent housing.
