Breaking Ground in Brooklyn: New Affordable Housing Development Rises on Van Dyke Houses Campus (New York City Housing Authority)

Construction has begun on Van Dyke III, a building on the campus of Van Dyke Houses that will bring 180 affordable apartments to the Brownsville, Brooklyn, community.

“Every apartment will be reserved for low-income households, with 54 apartments exclusively for formerly homeless families,” said Matthew Charney, NYCHA’s Director of Real Estate Development.

Self-driving shuttles coming to Linden in first test in US residential neighborhood, official says (Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority)

An autonomous shuttle is expected to begin service in the Linden neighborhood this month in the first residential test of self-driving shuttles in the nation. The shuttles will run along a 2.8-mile route and connect to services like St. Stephen’s Community House.

Self-driving shuttles are scheduled to start traveling in Linden in late January.

HUD Awards More Funding And New Designation To CMHA (Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority)

U.S. Housing and Urban Development officials were in Columbus Wednesday for a trio of announcements regarding the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority. 

HUD Midwest Regional Administrator Joseph Galvan announced that CMHA has been awarded nearly $156,000 to  help families attain self-sufficiency.

Printworks Mill is a new housing development in Greensboro that'll offer affordable options. This historic mill is slowly transforming into a brand new multi-use community.

“Printworks Mill is a fantastic example of using a distressed asset and turning it around and making it a productive place for people to live," said Cynthia Blue, of Greensboro Neighborhood Development. 143 of the units in the community will cater to low-income families.

Youths aging out of foster care have a new place to live in Vancouver, Wash.

The recently completed Caples Terrace serves young adults 18 to 24 years who might not otherwise have a place to live. It’s the first project by the Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) to target this unique population.

Kaiser Permanente purchasing site at Yesler (Seattle Housing Authority)

The Seattle Housing Authority and Kaiser Permanente have announced that Kaiser Permanente is purchasing 1.6 acres in the Yesler neighborhood. The property is located in the northwest area of Yesler and is bordered by Alder St. and 9th Avenue. Kaiser Permanente is planning a state-of-the-art specialty care facility on the site, a use that is closely in keeping with a community-led master plan for Yesler redevelopment.
