A Vancouver Howard Johnson hotel is being turned into a homeless shelter. The bulk of the construction work began last month, to turn the shuttered hotel into a homeless shelter near the Vancouver mall.

Households looking for affordable housing in San Diego can find information about locations — such as their proximity to transit and schools — on a new online tool the San Diego Housing Commission launched Monday.
The Affordable Housing Dashboard includes a map searchable by ZIP Code and property-specific information, as well as a high-level overview about affordable housing throughout the city.

After serving the the Wilmington Housing Authority since 2014, Katrina Redmon announced Aug. 4 she would resign as CEO effective Sept. 20, 2021. The authority’s board of commissioners announced Thursday it would appoint G. Vernice Hamilton as acting CEO upon Redmon’s departure.
Yesterday HUD announced awards totaling $10 million to 55 public housing authorities for emergency safety and security improvement grants. Six CLPHA members were among those PHAs awarded grants: New York City Housing Authority, Seattle Housing Authority, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, and the Chester Housing Authority. These grants will be used for the purchase and installation of carbon monoxide monitors, surveillance cameras, security doors, and fencing.
Home Forward Executive Director Michael Buonocore recently announced his intention to resign from the housing authority effective February 2022 in order to focus on creative pursuits, including book writing and podcasting.
