Opportunity Home San Antonio Wi-Fi program evolves to help with digital literacy, device distribution

Opportunity Home San Antonio, formally known as the San Antonio Housing Authority, has been working on Wi-Fi connectivity for its residents since 2013.

In 2020, when the pandemic hit, Opportunity Home approved a $4 million plan to help give the families who live on its properties free Wi-Fi. Now that it is in full effect, the initiative has evolved to help with digital literacy and device distribution.

The new construction of more than 300 affordable rental apartments at the former site of the Sheriff’s Crime Lab will provide homes for seniors, families and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities upon completion of three developments in collaboration with the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) that celebrated their groundbreaking today.

San Diego Seeking $23 Million in State Homekey Funds to Create 75 Affordable Apartments for People Experiencing Homelessness

Continuing collaborative efforts to create additional permanent affordable homes with supportive services for people experiencing homelessness, the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) has applied for up to $23 million from the state Homekey program for two properties in collaboration with the City of San Diego and County of San Diego.

Asheville Housing Authority bids farewell to longtime leader David Nash

Asheville Housing Authority said farewell Thursday to the man who's been a big part of the agency for the past 17 years.

David Nash, who began as deputy director in 2006 and took over as executive director in 2019, said housing is one of the most important things to a family. And he believes the housing authority's resources are critical to providing it for the community.

With Help from FCC Grant, INLIVIAN Is Crossing the Digital Divide

Earlier this year, INLIVIAN received a $300,000 grant from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the aim of assisting families in obtaining affordable broadband internet access essential for work, education, healthcare, and various other needs. In July 2022, Vice President Kamala Harris visited the INLIVIAN Carole Hoefener Center to introduce the Affordable Connectivity Program.
