Housing Commission Receives Award for Housing First San Diego Program (San Diego Housing Commission)

The housing commission is the recipient of the Nan McKay and Associates’ 2018 Development Award for its Housing First program, which helps San Diego’s homeless residents find permanent housing. The program has created nearly 6,000 housing opportunities countywide since it launched in November 2014.

The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) was awarded a $3.7 Million Jobs Plus Initiative (JPI) grant by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The award was announced by Dr. Ben Carson, Secretary of HUD, during a press conference held at Nickerson Gardens, HACLA’s largest public housing site with 3,146 residents.

Ben Carson, the U.S. secretary of Housing and Urban Development, went to Watts on Wednesday to announce a $3.7-million grant for a new job center at Nickerson Gardens, the biggest public housing development west of the Mississippi.

Sacramento, SHRA Receive $23M Grant to Further Twin Rivers Redevelopment Project

The City of Sacramento and the Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) received a big boost in the planned $310 million revitalization of its Twin Rivers housing project into a modern, mixed-income community. The California Strategic Growth Council awarded a $23 million grant to the project, most of which will go towards a state-of-the-art light rail station adjacent to the community.

FWHA's Posterity Heights Gets State Funds

The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority awarded $882,000 in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and $500,000 from its Development Fund to the Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA) for the construction of FWHA’s Posterity Village. The 58-unit Posterity Village will provide affordable, supportive housing for families with developmental or intellectual disabilities as well as lease-to-own homes.
