Vancouver will receive $1.88 million in new affordable housing grants, U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell announced last week.
The funding will come in the form of $1.24 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, Community Development Block Grant Program, as well as $646,431 from HUD’s HOME Investment Partnership Program, the Democratic senator said in a media release.

The Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura was just awarded $18,983,730 from the California Strategic Growth Council for its Ventura Westside Housing and Active Transportation grant application.
The award is granted through the state’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program (AHSC), which funds projects that promote healthier communities and protect the environment by increasing the supply of affordable places to live near jobs, stores, transit and other daily needs.

Puget Sound Energy has awarded the King County Housing Authority with a grant to install solar panels at the Meadows on Lea Hill Apartments in Auburn.
The Village at Overlake Station in Redmond, and Windsor Heights Apartments at SeaTac also will receive solar panels.
Collectively, the three systems total 82 kilowatts, enough clean energy to lower the KCHA’s operating costs.
HUD’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes has announced $324 million in available Lead Hazard Reduction grants intended to help local governments and certain state and tribal governments to identify and control lead-based paint hazards in low-income, privately-owned (unassisted) pre-1978 housing.

DHA has just been announced as the winner of the $500,000 grand prize in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar in your Community Challenge.
The $5-million competition was launched in 2016 as a way to improve energy affordability and to expand solar access to low-and-moderate-income households.
