Video: CLPHA Members Help Residents with Center for Disaster Philanthropy COVID-19 Resident Support Grants

In November 2020, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) was awarded a grant from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy to help our public housing authority (PHA) members better protect and serve vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CLPHA Members Awarded FY21 Emergency Safety and Security Improvement Grants

Yesterday HUD announced awards totaling $10 million to 55 public housing authorities for emergency safety and security improvement grants. Six CLPHA members were among those PHAs awarded grants: New York City Housing Authority, Seattle Housing Authority, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, and the Chester Housing Authority. These grants will be used for the purchase and installation of carbon monoxide monitors, surveillance cameras, security doors, and fencing.

66 CLPHA Members Receive Emergency Housing Vouchers to Help House Over 28,000 Families Experiencing or at Risk of Homelessness

On Monday, May 17, HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced the allocation of $5 billion in American Rescue Plan funds for 70,000 emergency housing vouchers (EHVs) for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. 

Seven CLPHA Members Awarded HCV Mobility Demonstration Grants

CLPHA congratulates our members who were awarded HUD's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Mobility Demonstration grants!

CLPHA members awardees include: Chester Housing Authority, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, Housing Authority of Pittsburgh, Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and joint awardees the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Development Authority.

These Fresno motels will be converted to homeless housing with millions from the state (Fresno Housing Authority)

From the Fresno Bee:

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday the Fresno Housing Authority, in partnership with the city of Fresno, will receive nearly $16.5 million to purchase and rehabilitate three more motels to house people experiencing homelessness.
