In November 2020, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) was awarded a grant from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy to help our public housing authority (PHA) members better protect and serve vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CLPHA Board Vice President Jeffery Patterson Wins Cleveland NAACP’s 2021Unsung Hero Award

On December 5, 2021, the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP recognized Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority CEO Jeffery K. Patterson with the 2021 Unsung Hero Award at the NAACP’s 109th Anniversary Freedom Fund Dinner: “Advancing Equity Forward.” This award recognizes community leaders who have influenced a program or organization with a positive attitude, a willingness to help in whatever capacity necessary, and a commitment to excellence.

PNC Foundation commits $600,000 to launch Black Business Boost Fund for underinvested neighborhoods of Milwaukee (Housing Authority City of Milwaukee)

The PNC Foundation is awarding a $600,000 grant to support the launch of the Black Business Boost Fund, an ecosystem designed to increase opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and business owners in underinvested neighborhoods of Milwaukee. The program will include direct equity investments, technical assistance, credit recovery, incubation, access to co-working space, working capital and strategic, ongoing one-on-one mentoring.

CLPHA Members Awarded FY21 Emergency Safety and Security Improvement Grants

Yesterday HUD announced awards totaling $10 million to 55 public housing authorities for emergency safety and security improvement grants. Six CLPHA members were among those PHAs awarded grants: New York City Housing Authority, Seattle Housing Authority, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, and the Chester Housing Authority. These grants will be used for the purchase and installation of carbon monoxide monitors, surveillance cameras, security doors, and fencing.

66 CLPHA Members Receive Emergency Housing Vouchers to Help House Over 28,000 Families Experiencing or at Risk of Homelessness

On Monday, May 17, HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced the allocation of $5 billion in American Rescue Plan funds for 70,000 emergency housing vouchers (EHVs) for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. 

Seven CLPHA Members Awarded HCV Mobility Demonstration Grants

CLPHA congratulates our members who were awarded HUD's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Mobility Demonstration grants!

CLPHA members awardees include: Chester Housing Authority, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, Housing Authority of Pittsburgh, Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and joint awardees the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Development Authority.
