"When I don't have the money, and I come here, and I get to shop and pick out whatever I want, nothing goes to waste," Crandell said.

Salvation Army Capts. Juan and Patricia Torres arrived in Ventura in July 2020, at the height of the pandemic. However, that did not slow them down.
They jumped quickly into serving the community by working to obtain more donations for the food pantry, which was providing groceries for roughly 500 families a week since the shutdowns started.
