Yonkers breaks ground on affordable housing project for seniors

The City of Yonkers broke ground Wednesday on an affordable housing project for seniors.

Future residents of the 60-unit building could see their monthly utility bills go from several hundred dollars down to just $30.

The city Housing Authority says one benefit that's going to come from this energy efficient and environmentally friendly project is based on what's known as passive house standards.

The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) announced today its plan to begin development of McKinley Manor, a $13.7 million, 44-unit affordable housing community that will exclusively serve low-income elderly citizens age 55 and over who are being relocated from the soon-to-be-decommissioned downtown YMCA of Central Ohio building.

Up to $500 a month in rental relief could soon be available for San Diegans at risk of homelessness.

The San Diego City Council voted Monday to include the Housing Stability Fund in the city’s $5 billion fiscal year 2023 budget.

The pilot project has enough money to cover 300 households for the next two years and is slated to help seniors, those with disabilities, families with kids and transitional youth, regardless of immigration status.
