All families with school-age children in suburban Cook County public housing buildings will be eligible for free broadband internet under a program funded through federal coronavirus stimulus money, officials announced Wednesday.

The District of Columbia Housing Authority entered into a partnership with Black Girl Health, a nationally known organization that works with companies, government entities and more to integrate strategic health programming in rural and urban communities, to offer physical and mental health wellness workshops on September 10.

Kenai, Soldotna offer COVID housing relief (Alaska Housing Finance Corporation)

From Public Radio for the Central Kenai Peninsula: 

Residents Kenai and Soldotna with income affected by COVID-19 can get help with their rent or mortgage payments through the end of the year.

The cities are partnering with the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to localize an assistance program AHFC started this summer.

Colorado Department of Local Affairs allocates $13.96M for affordable housing, eviction prevention and homeless relief (Denver Housing Authority)

The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) Division of Housing (DOH) awarded $4.47M through the Colorado State Housing Board (SHB) for affordable housing in September.

DOLA also so far has supplied over $7.49M to renters and landlords across Colorado through the EHAP and POP programs since Governor Jared Polis signed Executive Order 70 in May and HB1410 in June, authorizing DOH to provide up to $29.65M in COVID-19-related housing payment relief.

Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) CEO and CLPHA Board of Directors Vice President Jeffery K. Patterson was recently featured on ForbesBooksRadio's affordable housing podcast ChangeMakers with Katie Goar. Mr. Patterson discussed CMHA's work not only to increase housing opportunities for low-income Cuyahoga families, but also to leverage the housing authority's resources and local partnerships to improve education outcomes for school-aged public housing residents. One way CMHA is advancing this goal is through expanding  high-speed internet access at CMHA communities.
