CLPHA + 30 Housing Industry Organizations Urge Congress to Return to Negotiate and Pass Next COVID-19 Stimulus Package

Date Published:

On August 21, CLPHA joined 30 housing industry organizations in sending a letter to Congressional and Trump Administration leaders imploring Congress to "immediately return to the negotiating table and reach compromise on stimulus legislation to protect our nation’s renters, property owners and the stability of our nation’s rental housing stock." The letter warns that "[f]ailure to act will put tens of millions of renters at risk of being evicted, undermine the stability of our rental housing system, and needlessly prolong our nation’s ability to fully recover from the economic damage that has been wrought by this pandemic."

CLPHA has repeatedly urged lawmakers to pass another stimulus bill that includes substantial rental assistance to counter the unprecedented wave of homelessness that millions of families are facing as a result of the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask our members to continue to stress the need for additional emergency rental assistance to their Congressional delegations.
