New research from CLPHA and Econsult Solutions shows that PHAs generate and induce multiple streams of economic activity benefitting those who reside in public housing, as well as local employers, governments, and industries. The Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers (MHACY) has finished Phase I of its Schlobohm Houses renovation project. When completed, MHACY will have renovated 411 units across eight buildings at a cost of $300 million with considerable assistance from the RAD program.

Hunt Capital Partners has provided $4.2 million in capital federal LIHTC equity financing for Rhododendron Place, a future 30-unit Vancouver, WA housing community funded in part by the Vancouver Housing Authority. Rhododendron Place will house individuals experiencing homelessness with behavioral health disorders or mental disabilities and offer related supportive services.

The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) and partners held a groundbreaking ceremony for Pacifica at Playa Del Sol, a future community of 42 affordable rental apartments, 12 of which will be set aside for individuals and families with developmental disabilities.

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) broke ground on Oso Apartments, a 48-unit apartment complex in Chicago’s Albany Park. Financed with help from $10 million in CHA RAD funds, 100 percent of Oso Apartments’ units will be affordable rental housing for individuals and families.

The Boston Housing Authority’s planned redevelopment of its Bunker Hill public housing community is moving forward with the addition of Leggat McCall to the development team. The massive project, expected to break ground in 2021, will rebuild the community’s 1,100 current public housing units and add an estimated 1,600 market-rate units with the result being a truly mixed-income neighborhood

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County and partners cut the ribbon on The Lindley, a 200-unit high-rise in Chevy Chase, MD. The opening of The Lindley constitutes a net increase of 22 units of affordable housing in the neighborhood. You can watch a time-lapse video of The Lindley’s construction here.
