New Jersey DCA Distributes $6.5 Million in Community Development Block Grants

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) today announced the award of $6,552,869 in Small Cities Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to non-entitlement municipalities and counties in New Jersey. The 22 grants are going to 17 local government entities in eight counties. DCA’s Division of Housing and Community Resources receives, distributes, and administers these federal grant funds for the State of New Jersey.

Mobile Housing Authority, Local Partners Hold “Community Wealth Building Day”

This weekend the city of Mobile Housing Authority, Mobile County and other groups are partnering for an annual wealth-building day.

This is an event that local brokers have been holding for the past several years, taking it to different spots in Mobile. This year it will be hosted here at the Robert L. Hope Community Center.

Housing Authority of the City of Austin's Rosewood Courts Redevelopment to Be Completed in 2025

"Heavy equipment continues to roll across what was Rosewood Courts in east Austin. It’s been two years since the groundbreaking that came with a completion date targeted for fall 2024. 

Little is left from what was one of the first, if not the first, public housing complexes for African Americans. The transition to what will be called Pathways at Rosewood Courts is costing just under $63 million, a major endeavor for the Austin Housing Authority.

Columbus MHA acquires 160-unit Waldren Woods apartment community for $30 million

Sometime in the early 1970s, John Crawford received an offer he couldn’t refuse.

The Charlotte Housing Authority approached him about a job working with families and children who lived in its dozens of complexes. Crawford, then a school teacher and coach, loved working with children. It was a natural fit and he accepted the offer.
