"It's a major development in the City of Norfolk Tuesday as city officials held a groundbreaking celebration for the Tidewater Gardens Transformation Project.

City officials say the city, the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RHA) and a host of officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development gathered for the first phase of a long-awaited initiative in the St. Paul’s community.

The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh will apply for a $50 million grant for the Hill District in 2022, officials announced at a community meeting Tuesday night. The federal money, called a Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant, would be used to rebuild and expand the authority’s oldest housing development, Bedford Dwellings.

Los Angeles was one of eight cities announced Monday as recipients of $450,000 federal grants to support a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plan.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funds were given to the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, which will use the money to develop a “transformational plan” by and for residents of Chinatown and for the benefit of residents of the William Mead Homes housing development.

A historic part of Fort Worth is now even closer to a major transformation.

On Thursday morning, city leaders broke ground on phase one of a multi-part plan to improve the beloved Stop Six neighborhood.

Cowan Place Senior Living, which will be located at East Rosedale Street and Stalcup Road, will feature 174-units designed for seniors 62 and up.

The Housing Authority of Baltimore City’s 1940s-era Perkins Homes public housing site is coming down. Demolition of the six buildings that comprise the development in East Baltimore began June 24.

Mayor Tom Barrett announced Sunday, July 11, he is directing over $30 million to support housing activities in Milwaukee using funds from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The money is the first phase of ARPA funds to be deployed to increase housing and homeownership programs and to address potential displacement of residents stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
