The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) announced that the current phase of its homelessness action plan, HOUSING FIRST—SAN DIEGO, has achieved its three-year goal of housing 3,000 San Diegans experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in just 18 months.

The Seattle Housing Authority’s (SHA) Board of Commissioners approved the housing authority’s plan to purchase up to 500 units to add to SHA’s housing inventory for low-income individuals and families. SHA is moving forward with plans to purchase four existing apartment complexes across the Seattle area that will add 331 units to their housing portfolio.

The San Diego Housing Commission held its 13thannual Project Homeless Connect event, a resource fair for San Diegans experiencing homelessness that provides donated items such as shoes and snacks and offers services like eye exams, flu shots, haircuts, dental screenings, health care, and pet care, among numerous others.

The Healthy Corner Store Initiative (HCSI), a new pilot program developed by San Antonio-area partners, will offer food vouchers redeemable for healthy food at corner stores in San Antonio’s District 3. HCSI will make these vouchers available to San Antonio Housing Authority residents through events and site visits.

The Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency received High Performer status under HUD’s Section Eight Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) and the 2019 HUD Region IX Program of the Year Award for the housing authority’s operation of the the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program.
