Gene has led some of the nation's largest housing authorities, including Kansas City, Chicago, Indianapolis, and most recently Atlanta, from which he stepped down late last year. Gene describes what drew him to the public housing industry and the crises he faced including an earthquake in San Francisco, hurricanes in New Orleans, and an ice storm in Toronto.
