Two affordable housing projects – one nearing completion and one in the planning stages –recently received grants from the Washington State Department of Commerce.
The city of Vancouver received $1,059,085 for Laurel Manor and $161,907 for The Meridian to cover sewer, water or stormwater improvements and/or waive system development charges.
On December 17, HUD announced 26 PHAs are receiving over $1 million in additional funding to provide housing assistance to youth who are aging out of foster care and are homeless or at risk of homelessness through the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) Initiative. Harriet’s Hope, a $13 million affordable housing community planned to open on the city’s west side, has received a $1 million federal grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Cincinnati’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP) that represents a major financial boost to help advance the project from its current blueprint phase to eventual groundbreaking, the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) announced today.

All the Way Home, a campaign launched in 2015 to help end the homeless veterans crisis, has housed 2,201 veterans during the past seven years. The program is deemed a success in Santa Clara County, according to Destination: Home, a nonprofit that helps house the homeless.
