Norfolk joins five other cities from across the nation to do intensive work on healthy housing and healthy equity.

The King County Housing Authority, in partnership with a number of organizations across the county working to help people experiencing homelessness, has achieved a lease-up rate of 90 percent for the 762 Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs) it was awarded through the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. This compares with a national lease-up rate of 50.98 percent.* Of the top 20 grantees ranked by award size, KCHA is the first housing authority to reach this utilization milestone.

Wednesday morning, the City of Toledo, Lucas County and Lucas Metropolitan Housing announced a new, first-of-its-kind program that will pay landlords in the area to open their rentals to low-income residents.
The groups hope to add 200 affordable housing units from 25 landlords to Toledo by March.

Construction has begun on Phase I of the redevelopment of the Perkins Homes in East Baltimore with the closing of financing by lead housing developer McCormack Baron Salazar. Phase I includes 103 mixed-income apartment units in one four-story building and two townhome buildings.

The University of Washington and the Seattle Housing Authority today announced that Bellwether Housing has been selected to develop a mixed-income high-rise of about 240 units in the University District, pending approval by the UW Board of Regents.

The San Diego Housing Commission says it broke ground Thursday on 42 affordable apartments that veterans experiencing homelessness can take advantage of.
The press release says the development, located on 47th Street in the Chollas View neighborhood, is expected to be finished in the spring of 2024. The site is east of I-805 and within walking distance of Metropolitan Transit System bus routes and the 47th Street trolley station.

Sixty new apartments planned for Mulberry Street will feature high efficiency heating and insulation to meet the greener, "Passive House" standard. They will be served by a generator to keep the power running even through brutal storms.
Each unit will also be earmarked for a senior in need of affordable housing.
