Durham Housing Authority Cuts The Ribbon on The Joyce, Named for Local Trailblazer

This month, the Durham Housing Authority and partners cut the ribbon on The Joyce, an 80-unit apartment complex, the first new construction community of a $1 billion, 2,500 unit plan to bring much-needed housing to Durham. The Joyce is named in honor of pioneering trailblazer Joyce T. Nichols, Durham's first African American physician's assistant, a former member of DHA's Board of Commissioners, and a staunch advocate for tenants' rights. The Joyce is located across the street from Duke University's physician's assistant program, where Ms. Nichols earned her degree.

The New York City Housing Authority has partnered with BFC Partners, CB Emmanuel Realty, and non-profit organization Catholic Homes New York to complete $100 million in capital improvements at the West Brighton residential campus in Staten Island. Known formally as West Brighton I and II, the scope of work will impact more than 1,400 residents or 574 apartments spread across 14 buildings.

Lucas Metropolitan Housing, LISC launches Financial Opportunity Center for residents

Lucas Metropolitan Housing, in partnership with the Local Initiative Support Corporation, announced Friday the launch of its first-ever Financial Opportunity Center.

The purpose of the FOC is to help residents build credit, grow assets and pursue career goals. LMH is the first public housing authority in Ohio to embed FOC services into its operations on behalf of residents.
