Prompted by suggestions from CLPHA on the need to provide guidance to PHAs on ensuring access to vaccinations for residents and staff, HUD will host a series of webinars in April focused on vaccine access. The second webinar on April 21 will feature a presentation from the Housing Authority of the City of Austin on their efforts to help their residents access vaccines.

On Wednesday, March 24, CLPHA member Brian Gage, executive director of the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, testified before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance during their hearing "Preserving a Lifeline: Examining Public Housing in a Pandemic."

On Wednesday, March 24, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate former CLPHA Board Vice President Adrianne Todman as Deputy Secretary for Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

CLPHA endorsed Congressman Adam Smith’s (D-Wash.) Ensuring a Long-Term Housing Recovery Act, which was introduced this week in the House of Representatives. The bill would utilize local Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) to provide rental assistance as the nation continues to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic recession.
