CLPHA Supports Relaunch of Congressional Public Housing Caucus Led by Reps. Cleaver, Lynch, Meeks, and Torres

Today, U.S. Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II (MO-05), Ranking Member of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance, Stephen Lynch (MA-08), Gregory Meeks (NY-05), and Ritchie Torres (NY-15) announced the establishment of the Congressional Public Housing Caucus (CPHC). Co-chaired by a group of lawmakers with lived experience in public housing, the CPHC will serve as a dedicated resource for Members of Congress to help strengthen public housing nationwide.

CLPHA is proud to endorse Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici's (D-OR) package of legislation to address the housing crisis cross the country, inlcuding the Supporting Transition and Recovery Through (START) Housing Act, the Project Turnkey Act, the Build Housing with Care Act.

Of the bipartisan START Housing Act, which would would expand access to transitional housing for individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder or mental health crisis, CLPHA Executive Sunia Zaterman said:

The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities congratulates Scott Turner on his confirmation to be the 19th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Senate voted 55-44 to confirm Turner, with Democratic Senators John Fetterman (D-PA) and Peter Welch (D-VT) voting with all Republicans to confirm the new HUD Secretary.
