Fueled by what he called an impressive year in running an “over-regulated, underfunded agency,” during a pandemic, the president of Lucas Metropolitan Housing pledged Tuesday to offer more to public-housing residents in 2021 during what will be a “breakthrough” year for the agency.
Speaking at the agency’s final board meeting of the year, Joaquin Cintron Vega, the housing authority’s president and chief executive officer, gave an impassioned speech to commissioners, employees, and the public during which he promised to serve tenants with a “sense of compassion” as they face difficulties ahead.
