Virgin Islands HA Introduces Services to Housing Community with Bright Paths Programs

While the territory’s housing communities are being rebuilt after the 2017 storms, the V.I. Housing Authority is adding a slate of services through the Bright Paths program to help families achieve healthy and productive lives.

Bright Paths was created in 2020 and put into effect in June 2022, Emmanuella Perez-Cassius, assistant director of the Resident Wellness and Empowerment Department, told the Source.

About $100,000 is being put toward efforts to increase the availability of healthy food options in underserved areas of Milwaukee.

The City of Milwaukee announced Monday that seven for-profit and not-for-profit organizations supporting health food initiatives received this year’s Fresh Food Access Fund grants.

Now, the city is partnering with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority to host produce pop-ups to support families and make up for that loss.
