Ask resident Carolyn Brown about her new apartment at Sandstone Quarry, and she can barely contain her excitement.

“I'm in heaven,” said Ms. Brown, 72, of her apartment at the newly opened mixed-income development in the Fineview neighborhood of Pittsburgh's North Side.

“It's a nice place down here,” said Ms. Brown, who said she appreciates the views of the city, as well as the safety of her one-bedroom apartment.

Seeking approvals for a 32-story tower offering apartments priced for low-income and luxury renters, a Milwaukee Housing Authority official said this may be the first mixed-income development of its kind for the community, but won’t be the last.

Two major resolutions presented for approval involved entering agreements to begin development of public housing units into affordable mixed finance, project-based voucher, or rental assistance demonstration rental units on both St. Croix and St. Thomas.

House and Senate Leaders Reintroduce Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act

Widely supported bipartisan, bicameral legislation to expand and strengthen the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) was reintroduced in the Senate and House earlier this week. The Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) of 2019 (S. 1701 and H.R. 3077) is estimated to incentivize the building of over 450,000 affordable homes over the next decade and generate $48.5 billion in wages and business income, $19.1 billion in additional tax revenue, and 510,000 jobs.
