3:00 P.M. PROMISING PRACTICES FOR CLIMATE-RESILIENT AFFORDABLE HOUSING
HUD’s senior advisor for climate will present highlights from HUD's new Climate Action Plan, which outlines the Department’s goals to help the nation build more resilient infrastructure, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create well-paid jobs, and pursue environmental justice for disproportionately impacted communities. Following HUD’s remarks, learn from CLPHA members that are promoting promising practices for climate resiliency in affordable housing. MHACY will describe innovative local strategies it has deployed to achieve significant energy and water savings through creative projects that use alternative energy sources like solar power. HACLA will describe its electric car share pilot program at its public housing site in the San Pedro community. The program will provide direct access and affordable hourly rates (as well as alternative payment methods for the unbanked population) to electric vehicles provided by Nissan to local residents.
