David Williams to Present CMTO Findings, Opportunity Atlas at 2019 Housing Is Summit

CLPHA is pleased to announce that David A. Williams of Opportunity Insights will be a distinguished speaker at our fifth annual Housing Is Summit in Washington, D.C., May 16-17.

Williams will present on Day One of the conference, sharing promising insights from new research on the Creating Moves to Opportunity (CMTO) Project and Opportunity Insights’ new Opportunity Atlas.

HUD Secretary Ben Carson to Deliver Keynote Address at CLPHA's Spring Meeting

CLPHA is pleased to announce that Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D., Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), will deliver the keynote address at CLPHA's Spring Membership Meeting on the morning of Thursday, March 21.

Congratulations to CLPHA PHAs Receiving FUP Vouchers; Free CLPHA & CSH Webinar to Prepare PHAs for Implementation

On November 21, HUD announced awards for the Family Unification Program (FUP), a partnership between PHAs and child welfare agencies that provides housing assistance to foster youth at risk of homelessness and families whose lack of housing is a reason for their child’s foster care placement or is preventing family reunification. HUD awarded $30 million in funding to provide 3,000 vouchers. 15 CLPHA members received awards:

Austin Celebrates National Digital Inclusion Week, Highlights Importance of Internet Access for All

The Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) teamed up with Austin Free-Net, Skillpoint Alliance, Google Fiber, and Austin Pathways to participate in National Digital Inclusion Week May 8-13 to raise awareness about digital inequities and nationwide efforts to close the gaps.

Throughout the week, HACA hosted digital inclusion events that brought the community together to identify how economic and social disparities can be addressed for Austin residents and businesses.
