Cambridge Housing Authority Workforce Program gets a $100,000 boost from Cummings as it works to broaden support

The Cambridge Housing Authority’s Workforce Program that helps youths living in public housing prepare for college or a career has received a $100,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation. The grant, to be distributed over two years, will support the program while government aid has dwindled.

The Boston Public Library’s new long-term borrowing program is working to ensure Boston residents have access to online educational materials.

Boston residents can now access free Wi-Fi routers and Chromebooks through the library. Participants must be adult residents who do not otherwise have access to “equipment or services sufficient to meet their educational needs” according to a statement from the Boston Public Library.

Mothers speak out about formula crisis at Roundtable (Elm City Communities)

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro held a roundtable in New Haven on Monday to discuss what needs to be done to address the ongoing baby formula crisis and hear mothers' stories. 

Many moms spoke out during the discussion and shared their trials and tribulations trying to feed their children during the formula shortage. One mother said she has traveled across the state to find a formula for her child. 

HACP and Partners Recognized with Pennsylvania Response in Caring Award

The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP), ABK Learning & Development Center, and Duquesne University School of Education were honored on May 10, 2022, with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission's Response in Caring Award. The partnership was one of three such efforts in the state to receive the distinction, presented by Gov. Tom Wolf and former Gov. Mark Schweiker during the Commission’s annual Early Learning Economic Summit.
