Opportunity Home San Antonio Wi-Fi program evolves to help with digital literacy, device distribution

Opportunity Home San Antonio, formally known as the San Antonio Housing Authority, has been working on Wi-Fi connectivity for its residents since 2013.
In 2020, when the pandemic hit, Opportunity Home approved a $4 million plan to help give the families who live on its properties free Wi-Fi. Now that it is in full effect, the initiative has evolved to help with digital literacy and device distribution.
With Help from FCC Grant, INLIVIAN Is Crossing the Digital Divide

Earlier this year, INLIVIAN received a $300,000 grant from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the aim of assisting families in obtaining affordable broadband internet access essential for work, education, healthcare, and various other needs. In July 2022, Vice President Kamala Harris visited the INLIVIAN Carole Hoefener Center to introduce the Affordable Connectivity Program.

On Wednesday, May 31, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) joined with Nike Executives, the Boys & Girls Club and Councilmember Traci Park of Los Angeles Council District 11 to celebrate the unveiling of a new outdoor turf soccer field in the heart of Mar Vista Gardens housing community to provide more access to sport for residents. The ribbon cutting was followed by a free soccer clinic, made available to children from the Boys & Girls Club.
