Position Summary:

The Vice President, Resident and External Engagement is responsible for leading Atlanta Housing’s stakeholder interface, response and engagement efforts with residents and key stakeholders.  The primary focus of this role is to enhance the resident experience, encourage economic and lifestyle independence, and interact with internal, governmental and other stakeholders committed to the success of Atlanta Housing’s mission.  The professional in this position provides the visionary leadership and oversight of strategies that safeguard positive resident experience and all the important AH external relationships, including participants, residents, governmental agencies, foundations, social service providers, community partners, and other stakeholders.  This leadership position manages a team yet requires direct execution in addition to strategic oversight and development of the team. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Program Development/Execution

Develop, identify and/or actively participate in activities/initiatives that encourage the youth, adults seniors of AH participant and resident families achieve skills and opportunities that moves each toward economic and lifestyle independence, and promote senior residents’ wellbeing.

Provide leadership and supervision of the development and implementation of AH’s enterprise-wide human development programs and initiatives that provide support for resident youth, adults and seniors of AH.

Address, investigate and resolve resident issues/concerns (including non-compliance of Housing Choice Program and/or HomeFlex Rules and Practices) and promote positive community relationships.

Promote community engagement and involvement by creating volunteer opportunities that engage AH staff and connect them to the diverse population of AH clients and stakeholders AH serves.

Sponsor/foster/initiate programs for youth to receive the education, training, support services and opportunities they need for success in their educational pursuits and/or career and work.

Promote healthy aging across the lifespan, enabling residents to flourish in their communities.

Assist unemployed/underemployed individuals in making the transition from public assistance to economic independence.

Cultivate build and manage strategic partnerships with nonprofit service providers to support the delivery of programs and initiatives that advance AH-assisted resident outcomes toward

economic independence and improved quality of life.                                                                                                                                             

Consensus Building/Education

Devise, oversee and implement strategies to build innovative partnerships with key educational, human development, community-based, charitable, faith-based, governmental agencies and other stakeholders to: (i) support AH initiatives and resident families, and (ii) leverage expertise, services, and funding to support AH’s goals and priorities.

Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local private and public agencies (such as Atlanta City Council, Atlanta Public Schools, Atlanta Police, community leaders, service providers, etc.) and other stakeholders to leverage and enhance AH’s presence in local conversations about affordable housing, “aging in place” for seniors, homelessness, education, human development services and other AH initiatives.

Advise the agency’s senior leadership on matters that impact the AH’s community, local governmental and external relations in a timely manner with recommendations regarding appropriate responsible actions.      

                                                                                                                                                                                
Miscellaneous

Provide event and marketing support for AH hosted and sponsored events.

Execute assigned special projects and such other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, manage and evaluate an experienced and diverse team.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in addition to strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of residents, employees and public and private sector business partners. 

Demonstrated organization and administrative skills, including the ability to plan, organize, execute and juggle multiple demands to meet established goals and deadlines. 

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner with colleagues, internal clients, partners, vendors and stakeholders.   

Attention to detail and thorough understanding of economic and lifestyle strategies designed to encourage and assist residents of all ages.   

Superior judgment, tact, diplomacy, reasoning and analytical abilities required.

Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and develop/refine business processes.

Must be able to function in an environment of multiple and shifting priorities.

Requires a demonstrated proficiency of current office technology and software applications and demonstrated use of such technology/applications on a regular basis. 

Education / Experience

Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited educational institution.

10+ years of related managerial/leadership experience with Human Development, Resident Services or related programs.

Working Conditions:

Works in an office environment but may require significant after hours resident and other stakeholder meetings. May require frequent bending, stooping, reaching and prolonged sitting and/or standing. Frequent local travel which necessitates a valid State of Georgia driver’s license and be fully insurable for the purpose of obtaining clearance on AH’s “Authorized Drivers List.”  AH Authorized Driver or Assigned Vehicle.
