Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an energetic and experienced security professional to provide oversight of security services for KCHA's Central Office, located in Tukwila, WA.

The Site Security Lead will be responsible for overseeing security operations at our Central Office. This role ensures safety and security of vendors, staff and facilities by enforcing policies, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating with local law enforcements and emergency services. The Site Security Lead will also have the opportunity to oversee visitor management protocols while maintaining excellent customer service, representing a professional security department. This position reports directly to the Senior Security Manager.

Essential Functions

The Site Security Lead:

Responds to emergency and routine incidents including unauthorized incursions, fire, medical emergencies, threats, suspicious activities and people, flooding, hazardous materials, and facilities issues; clearly communicates all security issues using two-way radio, telephone, and email.

Actively monitors security systems such as video and access control points as required for site while tracking, dispatching, and following up on information as appropriate. 

Completes detailed incident reports for follow-up to include collecting important data for process improvements.

Completes audits to identify security gaps and vulnerabilities to improve safety for employees and guests.

Utilizes excellent customer service, customer relations, and communications skills in dealing with KCHA employees, vendors, visitors, and contractors; creates and maintains an atmosphere that is responsive, courteous, and respectful. 

Monitors the arrival of customers, employees, and contractors in-person and responds to all inquiries via the building intercom system; greets visitors at the concierge desk by welcoming and directing them accordingly. 

Receives packages, mail, and deliveries.

Enforces access control policy at KCHA Central Campus and KCHA facilities for employees, vendors, visitors, contractors, and vehicles through the use of security devices, such as badge readers and/or visitor kiosks.

Responsible for management of the badging system including issuance for activation, de-activation, and issuing photo identification for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Identifies suspicious or prohibited individuals, materials, vehicles, or items and coordinates with security officers and/or local law enforcement to ensure safety for all employees and guests. 

Defuses and manages confrontational, aggressive, or threatening people or situations through de-escalation and/or crisis intervention that utilizes effective communication and other skills.

Oversees, coordinates, and provides guidance and direction to contracted security staff; ensures adequate staffing levels of security through effective communication with security guard vendors.

Manages post-orders for security staff while also ensuring they are accountable for KCHA protocol.

Qualifications and Competencies

Experience & Education:  

High School diploma/GED AND

Moderate experience assisting with the security and safety operations of a building OR

An equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
Knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedure, such as FEMA. 

Ability to read and interpret floor plans and site plans. 

Ability to follow emergency management procedure, including FEMA. 

Legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws. 

Skill in operating security systems (video, access control), alarm systems, portable radios, badge and photo identification systems, intercom systems, Avigilon Alta security systems, and visitor management systems.

Skill in creating security audit reports and timesheets. 

Experience performing data entry with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while ensuring compliance with organization policy and state/federal law.

Creates, maintains, and updates records by utilizing MS Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and Excel programs and a specialized database system(s).

Exercises sound judgment in analyzing situations and in reaching decisions quickly. 

Values diversity and possesses an understanding of multicultural and cultural competencies; ability to work effectively and positively with individuals of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport quickly and authentically with KCHA staff, KCHA Safety & Security Dept, Law enforcement officials, third party security officers, and vendors

Special Requirements:

Consent to and pass a driver's and criminal records background check.

Must possess a valid driver's license and own or have access to a vehicle to regularly travel between work sites or have an alternative reliable mode of transportation.

Salary & Benefits:  

The starting salary range for this position is $33.50 - $41.04 hourly, dependent on qualifications and professional experience. The complete salary range for this position is $33.50 - $48.58 hourly. Performance-based merit increase opportunities and Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) are reviewed annually.
