At the VHA we work closely with local governments and other community partners throughout Clark County to address issues of affordable housing and homelessness and help families break the cycle of poverty. We provide affordable housing and housing assistance to low-income residents in Clark County. The Property Assistant provides office and clerical support to assigned Property Manager. Includes assistance with waiting lists, leasing, HUD and tax credit tenant certifications, maintenance and grounds scheduling, work order tracking, file management and other related duties.
Your skills and experience will support our mission as you:
- Assist in management of waiting lists and the selection of qualified applicants in compliance with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines, and/or Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) guidelines for tax credits.
- Show units, properties, and features available to be rented. Create move-in paperwork and assist in conducting move-in inspections which includes building and amenity orientation and unit orientation and completing condition checklist. Counsel residents regarding building rules, lease obligations as needed.
- Prepare, distribute, and monitor intake, interim, and recertification packets when applicable. Verify and perform calculations correctly for applicant/resident income, assets, and applicable deductions. Input data into computer system and/or worksheet for Property Manager to review for approval within required timeframe. Assist in maintaining resident files and DocuWare scanning/storage and ensure File creation and management meet VHA, HUD, and or WSHFC requirements.
- Generate, close, and scan maintenance work orders into DocuWare. Field tenant calls requesting work orders by ensuring area standards are followed with regards permission to enter, maintenance worker assignment and notification, and tenant communication.
- Assist in processing reasonable accommodations; updating current information regarding vacancies; scheduling building system/ tests and services; and rent collection and preparation of tenant rent statements.
- Establishes regular site visits to assist in monitoring condition of property, including issuing yard tickets/ infraction/towing etc. notices as needed. Discuss lease violations with resident when needed. Informs manager of conversations/ concerns. Ensures tenant leasing areas (office/ lobby/ etc.) are clean and in good repair.
Pay and Benefits
- The starting salary range for this position is $3,069 - $3,529 per month based on experience. In compliance with the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, the full salary range for this position is $3,069 - $4,291per month.
- Full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Requirements
- High school diploma required plus some higher-level education or vocational training specializing in office skills and/or housing related subject plus at least 2 years of directly related experience or equivalent required.
- AA preferred.
- HUD 202 and tax credit experience preferred.
