The Jacksonville (FL) Housing Authority (JHA) is seeking a highly qualified President / Chief Executive Officer to lead and manage its portfolio of 2320 Public Housing units, 8096 housing choice vouchers, 607 RAD units, and 390 market rate units.  The agency operates with an annual budget of $110 million and 200 staff. Resident services are provided through, but not limited to, Jobs Plus, ROSS, FSS, and Section 3. JHA is a HUD high-performer under PHAS and a standard-performer under SEMAP and is a highly entrepreneurial, progressive housing provider. In 2023 the agency was awarded the FAHRO designation as the outstanding large housing authority in Florida. The agency has an A+ Standard and Poor rating and has recently issued $41 million in bonds to further expand affordable housing. JHA operates as an independent agency of the City and does receive some funding assistance from the City.

Jacksonville Florida is situated in the First Coast Region of Northeast Florida abutting the Atlantic Ocean and straddling the St. Johns River. It is the largest city by land area in the continental United States with 900 square miles and is the tenth largest city by population. Jacksonville is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.  With the City / County consolidation Jacksonville is the most populated City in Florida with 1,733,937 residents. Slightly over 50% of the population is represented by minority residents. The U.S. miliary is the largest employer and the City has the third largest naval based in the nation. The community is blessed with a high quality of urban life and has a wealth of cultural, sports, educational, and recreational opportunities.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Social Sciences, Finance, or closely related fields is required and a Master’s Degree in such fields is preferred. Applicants should also have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management and administrative experience in public housing / affordable housing. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates will be required to provide academic credentials and work history. Compensation for the position is negotiable, depending on the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate. The salary range will be at a highly competitive level. JHA is an equal opportunity employer. Relocation assistance will be provided.
