Are you passionate about keeping outdoor spaces beautiful and inviting? If yes, join the Vancouver Housing Authority as a Groundskeeper/Laborer and play a key role in keeping our properties pristine and welcoming!

At the Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) we work closely with local governments and other community partners throughout Clark County to address issues of affordable housing and homelessness and help families break the cycle of poverty. We provide affordable housing and housing assistance to low-income residents in Clark County. This position performs grounds maintenance work on VHA owned or managed properties including lawn and garden care, pesticide application, general labor, and other related duties. 

Your skills and abilities will support our mission as you:

Mow lawns with tractors or power mowers.

Edge sidewalks and flower beds using power edgers.

Trim hedges, shrubs, and trees with clippers, loppers, saws, and power chain saws.

Rake leaves, weed flower beds, sweep sidewalks, and perform routine lawn maintenance.

Apply chemicals to grass, shrubs, and trees as needed.

Prepare soil for planting, use a rototiller, and apply fertilizers.

Deep clean and vacuum vacant housing units.

Remove refuse, including large items, and haul them to the dump.

Clear snow and ice from parking areas and sidewalks.

Load, unload, and move heavy materials and equipment.

Perform tune-ups and maintenance on yard equipment.

Clean gutters and roofs, and trim trees up to three stories high.

Pay and Benefits

The starting salary range is $23.10 - $25.41 per hour based on experience. In compliance with the Equal Pay & Opportunities Act, the full salary range is $23.10 - $29.57 per hour.

Full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

Requires at least 1 years’ experience in ground maintenance.  

High school diploma or GED required.  

Must obtain Washington State Pesticide Applicator's License within 6 months of hire.  

Janitorial experience preferred.  

Must have valid driver’s license and meet VHA auto insurance requirements.
