DIRECTOR of HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM

The Housing Authority of Kansas City, Missouri (HAKC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Director of the Housing Choice Voucher Program.  The agency functions with an annual operating budget of $25 million and a staff of 130 employees. HAKC administers 8500 Housing Choice Vouchers with a staff of 35 employees. The Director of HCV is responsible for the overall operation of leased housing programs to include managing, supervising, and administering tasks involved in planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing program operations. The city offers world-class professional and amateur sports, food experiences (particularly barbeque and steak), jazz entertainment, and many other cultural outlets. The downtown has experienced a $6 billion redevelopment and is the sixth fastest growing downtown in America.  The city is known as the “City of Fountains” and the “Paris of the Plains” based on its 200 fountains and more boulevards that any other city in the world except Paris, France. The Country Club Plaza was the first suburban shopping district in the U.S. and provides upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment in an environment of Spanish style architecture. Other similar notable districts include the Downtown Power and Light District and Crown Center. Kansas City is home to thirteen universities and colleges. The major employer is the Federal Government, with Kansas City being 1 of 10 national regional centers for the U.S. Government.

The candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. The candidate must also have five years of experience in property management or low-income housing with increasing responsibility in a senior supervisory capacity. HAKC may consider an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the ability to fulfill the essential job duties of the position. Candidates should have completed, or commit to completing within one year, industry certifications for HCVP Executive Management, Enterprise Income Verification System, Occupancy Standards, and Fair Housing.

The salary range for the position is negotiable. The application must include a one-page cover letter, a two-page resume that includes salary expectations, and a one-page listing of three references.
