Position Summary: As a Moving to Work (MTW) Expansion Agency under the Landlord Incentives Cohort#3, this position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Community Health Coordinator is responsible for administering all wellness programs for Dothan Housing (DH) and its instrumentalities. The position organizes and implements comprehensive programs and activities to support employees' mental and physical health. The Community Health Coordinator promotes wellness and fitness initiatives in the organization, answers questions, and collects feedback from staff, community stakeholders, residents, and HCV participants. The position coordinates the activities of the Community Health Clinic at the Our Community Housing & Enrichment Center (OCHEC) and partners with local medical schools, mental health and substance abuse agencies, and other healthcare providers to provide services at the clinic.
The Community Health Coordinator designs, plans, and implements classes, speakers, seminars, personal training, and voluntary fitness assessments to promote healthy lifestyles. The position assists employees with personal concerns and assessments and provides recommendations and referrals for counseling, crisis intervention, and treatment. The position also collaborates with the Benefits Payroll Coordinator to identify cost-effective wellness programs and incentives. The Community Health Coordinator addresses the social determinants of health for the Baptist Bottom Neighborhood and affordable housing developments owned or managed by DH and its instrumentalities. The position is responsible for preventive health and wellness benefits to help maintain or improve employees' behavior to achieve better health and reduce health risks.
Required Education/Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Human Resources, Public Health, Nursing, or related experience is preferred, with a minimum of three (3) years of counseling, employee assistance, health education, well-being, and wellness program development experience.
An Associate’s degree in Health Education, Human Resources, Public Health, Nursing, or related experience is preferred, with a minimum of five (5) years of counseling, employee assistance, health education, well-being, and wellness program development experience.
Experience working for a Moving to Work (MTW) Expansion Public Housing Authority (PHA) is a plus.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must be certified or obtain Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist (CCWS) certification or equivalent within one year of employment.
