The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) is searching for a dynamic Accounting Tech 2 to join our team and help ensure that our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.
At the Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) we provide affordable housing and housing assistance to low-income residents in Clark County. The Accounting Tech 2 performs a variety of technical accounting duties, primarily supporting cash management and general accounting programs, while also adapting to various cross-functional tasks as needed by the department.
What you'll do
- Reconcile VHA bank accounts on a monthly basis, including operating accounts, investments, and reserves.
- Monitor interest income and expense and makes recommendations to maximize positive cash flow. Analyze variances and reports results.
- Monitor and record online bank transactions daily.
- Process and record various deposits, including portability payments and grant draws.
- Verify information for accuracy, record deposits, and monitor monthly subsidies.
- Work closely with various financial institutions to establish, maintain, transfer and/or close accounts. Monitor VHA daily cash status, compile expenditure data, assess needs, and coordinate with various financial institutions to ensure the VHA remains in a positive cash status. Alert Accounting Manager of pertinent issues regarding assigned accounts including short term cash needs. Forecast shortages and recommend solutions.
- Process various wires, transfers and other banking transactions.
- Establish, monitor, and record automated payments for bonds, loans and other expenses.
- Prepare residual and replacement reserve draw requests and submit to HUD or other funders for approval.
- Prepare Bills and Claims Report for VHA Board Meetings.
- Establish and maintain various cash reports and schedules.
- Assist with vendor setup.
Pay & Benefits
- Starting pay rate is $3,509 - $3,860 per month based on experience. In compliance with the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, the full salary range is $3,509 - $5,008 per month.
- Full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Requirements
- AA degree in accounting or related subject plus additional two years of education or experience in accounting or related field required. Candidates who are actively pursuing a relevant degree and are within six months of graduation would be considered to have met this requirement.
- Governmental, property management, affordable housing, or non-profit industry accounting experience preferred.
