Seeking approvals for a 32-story tower offering apartments priced for low-income and luxury renters, a Milwaukee Housing Authority official said this may be the first mixed-income development of its kind for the community, but won’t be the last.
“When it works here, we can replicate it,” said Scott Simon, senior vice president of development for housing authority affiliate Travaux Inc.

Department of Education Application for New Awards: Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPS) Program
The Department of Education (ED) listed applications for new awards for the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPS) Program in the Federal Register on April 16, 2019. The CCAMPS program application is open to postsecondary institutions who are interested in providing campus-based childcare services—or contracting with off-campus providers—for low-income student parents.
HUD Publishes Notice Seeking Input on Opportunity Zones
On April 17, HUD published a notice in the Federal Register seeking input on several major issues related to Opportunity Zones. The notice from HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) provides information on the intersection of Opportunity Zones and affordable housing nationally and requests feedback on nine questions concerning HUD’s role in encouraging investment in economically distressed communities.
