PHA Leaders Gather in Washington, D.C. for CLPHA’s Spring 2026 Meeting

Last week, CLPHA’s Spring 2026 Meeting in Washington, D.C. brought together housing authority leaders and senior staff for two days of substantive discussion focused on the most pressing issues facing the public and affordable housing. It was La Shelle Dozier’s first meeting as CLPHA CEO following Sunia Zaterman’s retirement, and CLPHA Board President Jeffery K. Patterson acknowledged this milestone by noting that “the only way to replace a legend is with another legend.”

Patricia Wells, Executive Director of the Oakland Housing Authority, and Mark Gillett, Executive Director of the Oklahoma City Housing Authority, Elected to CLPHA’s Board 

CLPHA is pleased to announce the election of two new board members: Patricia Wells, Executive Director of the Oakland Housing Authority, and Mark Gillett, Executive Director of the Oklahoma City Housing Authority. These two new members were elected at CLPHA’s Spring 2026 Board Meeting, held March 18, 2026, in Washington, D.C. 

Announcing Thrive from the Start: A Cross-Sector Effort to Address Infant and Toddler Homelessness

We are thrilled to share some exciting news from Housing Is! After months of dedicated collaboration with partners, Prevent Child Abuse America, SchoolHouse Connection, and ZERO TO THREE, we’ve launched Thrive From The Start—a cross-sector effort dedicated to address homelessness among infants and toddlers as well as expectant parents. Together, we’re ensuring that babies and their families have access to safe, stable, and nurturing support.

CLPHA Congratulates Scott Turner on His Senate Confirmation to be HUD Secretary

The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities congratulates Scott Turner on his confirmation to be the 19th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Senate voted 55-44 to confirm Turner, with Democratic Senators John Fetterman (D-PA) and Peter Welch (D-VT) voting with all Republicans to confirm the new HUD Secretary.  

CLPHA Stands with HACLA, LACDA, and Southern California in the Wake of Devastating Wildfires

CLPHA stands with everyone in the path of the horrific wildfires in Los Angeles County, especially the residents and staff of our members, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Development Authority. We are grateful to the firefighters and first responders who are putting themselves in danger while working to save lives and communities under extremely difficult conditions.
