The more than 391,000 American children and youth living in foster care deserve to grow up in safe and loving homes devoted to their health, happiness, and success. Public housing represents a significant investment on the part of the federal government: over $162 billion including land costs. The program provides 1.2 million units of affordable housing to over 2.2 million people, including 750,000 children.
