February 20, 2025 – The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities’ (CLPHA) Executive Director Sunia Zaterman released the following statement regarding the latest threats to public housing authorities (PHAs) posed by cuts to HUD programs and staff and a potential government shutdown: |
The U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate have finalized their standing committees’ membership for the first session of the 119th Congress. For the committees of importance to CLPHA, the current makeup, with subcommittee members noted in bold, are in the below link.
The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities congratulates Scott Turner on his confirmation to be the 19th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Senate voted 55-44 to confirm Turner, with Democratic Senators John Fetterman (D-PA) and Peter Welch (D-VT) voting with all Republicans to confirm the new HUD Secretary.
