Lucas Metropolitan Housing to Build Housing for Youth Aging out of Foster Care

The site of the old Park Hotel will soon be a home to those seeking housing after they exit the Lucas County Foster care system.

More than 1,500 youth are experiencing homelessness in Lucas County. After securing a $6 million loan, Lucas Metropolitan Housing thinks they’ll be able to expand affordable housing, offering 45 units to young adults age 18-24.

The facility will also host mental health support systems.

Officials Say New Vancouver Low-income Senior Housing Will Improve Lives

Local housing officials gathered Thursday to celebrate progress on the construction of a new low-income senior living facility in Vancouver’s Bagley Downs neighborhood.

Laurel Manor, 3333 N.E. 66th Ave., is a four-story apartment building with 82 one-bedroom units next door to Columbia River Mental Health Services.

American Association of Community Colleges Highlights Columbus MHA Partnership That Provides Housing Opportunities for Community College Students

Lack of affordable housing is a barrier for many in America and has left many community college students facing homelessness.

More than a quarter (26.6%) of all public community colleges have on-campus housing. And in the last year, more community colleges have been working—often in partnership with outside organizations — to provide affordable housing options for their students.
