New E-bike Pilot Program "Good2GoBikes Powered by LACI" Launches to Serve Low-Income Residents of Rancho San Pedro (HACLA)

The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), in partnership with Pedal Movement, officially launched a new, first-of-its-kind zero-emission, micro-mobility pilot, making e-bikes and e-cargo bikes available for affordable rental to Rancho San Pedro residents. LACI and HACLA also announced their commitment to extend the successful EV Car Share pilot program at Rancho San Pedro for another year.

Ruth L. Bennett Community Farm Receives $750,000 Grant from the USDA (Chester Housing Authority)

Bennett Community Farm has been awarded a $750,000 grant from the USDA to support its initiatives to offer opportunities to underserved communities in Chester. CHA and its community farm will use the grant to advance ongoing commitment to food equity by collaborating with community partners, providing hands-on training through individual technical assistance and agricultural workshops, and implementing other initiatives.

MetroHealth Medical Center helps revitalize Cleveland’s Buckeye neighborhood (Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority)

MetroHealth Medical Center recently repaired playgrounds and updated fitness zones on the city’s East side, in the Buckeye neighborhood.

The work was made possible by a grant from Fifth Third Bank.

The fitness zones are located at the East End Neighborhood House, Fairhill Partners and Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Woodhill Community Center.

All fitness zones are also adjacent to kids’ play areas.

Public housing residents hope to paint a new career path (Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority)

Armed with half a dozen paintbrushes, a handful of rollers and a few buckets of paint, a dozen residents with Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority hoped to brighten up their community space and employment outlook with a little hands-on training. 

LA84 Foundation & Play Equity Fund partners with Rams head coach Sean McVay for new playground in Ramona Gardens (HACLA)

Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay, the LA84 Foundation, the Play Equity Fund and the Steinmetz Foundation provided funding for the construction of new playground equipment at the Ramona Gardens Housing Development in Boyle Heights. The playground has been completely refurbished and will be unveiled during a celebratory ribbon-cutting at 4pm on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
