From NBC 24 News Toledo:
Mulch was spread, flowers were planted and new paint was applied outside of the Glendale Terrace apartments Friday as Lucas Metropolitan Housing continued its "Thumbs Up" project.
"We're going to make our properties look more presentable and make it feel more like home for the residents," property manager Brianna Eaton said. "We start from the outside, we go in, and we just try to make it as beautiful a community for everybody."
The beautification of the apartments is a part of the Thumbs Up project from Lucas Metropolitan Housing.
"We all deserve a beautiful place to call home," said Sarah Smith, director of development for the United Way of Greater Toledo.
In collaboration with the United Way and with the help of community sponsors, the project works to enhance the outside of the properties for the residents in hopes of reminding residents to be proud of their homes.
"It's very important to make sure that we can make a better community for them and to make sure that they can feel proud of the places that they call home," said Joaquin Cintron Vega, president and CEO of LMH.
