(Washington, D.C.) July 20, 2020 -- CLPHA Executive Director Sunia Zaterman released the following statement on the passing of Congressman John Lewis: 
 
“The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities mourns the loss of Congressman John Lewis, a person whose life-long commitment to justice and equality holds a standard for us all. He is justly considered the "conscience of the nation" for his personal courage and relentless demand for civil rights. We join the country in honoring the life of Congressman Lewis and his legacy of inspiration and hope. We can continue his call for social justice by ensuring that every American has a safe, affordable place to call home.”
