A joint webinar of FRAC and the School Nutrition Association.
Community eligibility is a huge success, reducing paperwork for schools and increasing school breakfast and lunch participation. Still, nearly 45 percent of eligible schools have not yet implemented this beneficial option, and schools that were early adopters of community eligibility will have to redo their ISPs for the 2018-2019 school year. Since the Identified Student Percentage (students certified for free school meals without an application) determines the level of reimbursement a school will receive and whether or not the school will operate in the black, taking steps to improve a districts’ ISP will ensure that the ISP accurately reflects the poverty in the school and make community eligibility a more viable option. This webinar will cover best practices for improving direct certification, making sure that children who are homeless, in foster care, etc., are certified without an application, and conducting SNAP outreach to help improve your districts’ ISP.
