The Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $460,229 to renew its existing Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Programs for residents of HACA’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) housing assistance program, as well as an additional $334,712 to launch the program at eight properties within HACA’s Project Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) portfolio.
HUD has announced a total of $116 million in Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Program awards to 714 PHAs. The awards include $109 million to 682 PHAs for the 2022 Renewal FSS Program, and an additional $6 million to 32 PHAs and 38 Project Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) owners for the 2022 New FSS Program.

Chicago Housing Authority residents who participated in the Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program received their certificates of completion this month at an FSS graduation ceremony at the Charles A. Hayes Family Investment Center.
