The House Financial Services Committee voted unanimously on July 16 to approve H.R. 3702, the “Reforming Disaster Recovery Act of 2019,” bipartisan legislation from Reps. Al Green (D-TX) and Ann Wagner (R-MO) that would formally authorize HUD’s Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program.
HUD Opens Registration for REAC NSPIRE Demonstration

HUD recently announced that PHAs can register for its new voluntary demonstration that will test new inspection protocols. PHAs participating in the demonstration, known as NSPIRE, will receive one inspection per property during the demonstration period.

On Tuesday, June 25, via Executive Order, President Donald Trump established the White House Council on Eliminating Barriers to Affordable Housing and named HUD Secretary Ben Carson as its chairperson.
The Council will consist of members across eight Federal agencies and engage with state, local, and tribal leaders across the country to identify and remove the obstacles that impede the production of affordable homes.
